Kid, I Ain't Go No More Money!

So, now that school is in full swing I have noticed a sudden surge of traffic. To my front door. From strange kids.  No, I'm not talking about Halloween, I mean kids selling stuff. They have gone to school, attended the Pep rally, filling their heads with illusions of winning shiny laptops, bicycles, Xboxes, or whatever they promise them.  I've gotten Facebook updates from parents asking me to support their child's school, automated email follow-ups, random door bells rings from 'neighborhood' kids (child, I have never seen you before in my life.  Do you even live in this neighborhood?) Add to that, in the last two weeks I have been to a Pampered Chef party, a Scentsy party and a Stampin' Up party...whew! I am tapped out, exhausted and my money's spent!  I am expecting a measuring bowl, Apple cinnamon wax bars, and Petit Pair stamp set! (Come on Christmas) Oh, did I mention I am also subscribed to magazines, getting Popcorn AND Yankee Candles? This. is. ridiculous!  My husband's about to put me out! (okay, he's not, but he's shaking his head).  Why can't I just say NO, kid, I ain't got no more money!

Well to bridge the gap, I am stretching my scrapbook supplies.  I purchased this cute Regent Street paper pad kit from Recollections.  I have two sons and five brothers.  I need man stuff, and this kit is full of man stuff.  I particularly liked the Top Hat on the cover.

But to my dismay, the hat is no where in the collection.  SO, I cut out the Top Hat graphic, ran it through the printer onto cream cardstock and this is what I got.

From here, I added their background paper to make the card, and embellished it for my brother Lander's birthday.  Inside it says Happy Birthday.

I like the masculine look of this card.  While I was at Michael's I found this paper pack on discount for like $2.00.  I made my close friend Roycea's birthday card from it.

As you can see it is very feminine, but so is she.  She likes bling and is a light in my life, so I liked the chandeliers.

Lesson learned?  God supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory (Phil 4:19).  I was able to give to help out others, and in return learn to get creative with the little I have.  And I learned to say, "Kid, I ain't got no more money" (but in a nice tone) Sometimes 'No' is a holy word too!
